Marikina Entrance Markers

Arch. JOEL BAUTISTA
President, Marikina Valley Chapter
United Architects of the Philippines (UAP)
Marikina City

Dear Arch. Bautista:

Our city will install entrance markers in five (5) of its major entrances/boundaries. This is integral to urban identity and is an important feature of a self-respecting community. Fittingly, one of the activities we have lined-up in connection with the 15th cityhood anniversary of Marikina is the unveiling of the entrance marker design.

Corollary to this, may we seek your assistance by way of proposing a design concept that would depict a resilient community. As you know, Marikina for a number of times has hurdled difficult challenges. Having recovered quickly from the enormous devastations wrought by Ondoy in 2009 provides another resonant proof of Marikenians' strength of character and positive mindset. We believe that you have the creative mind to come out with an appropriate and awe-inspiring design.

A fitting ceremony will be held to recognize the best design concept that our city will adopt. The name of the winning designer will be inscribed beneath all our city s entrance markers as a form of appreciation.

Soliciting the inputs of private groups/individuals for the entrance marker is in consonance with the theme we have adopted for this year's cityhood anniversary: People-government partnership for a vibrant city. It will be greatly appreciated if we can receive your design concept within two weeks upon receipt hereof.

You may submit your design concept to Arch. Joy Alarcon, Marikina City Development Authority, 2nd Floor, City Hall, Sta. Elena, Marikina City. Should you have any inquiry, Arch. Alarcon can be reached at telephone nos. 646-0385/682-9571.

We look forward to your enthusiastic response to this request. Mabuhay po kayo!

Very truly yours,
