Questions and clarification on the MOA response:
The design competition agenda was presented.
What is Arch. Palafox’s involvement/participation regarding Marikina Sports Center (MSC) redevelopment/ planning?
Answer : no longer involved in the re-development of the Marikina Sports Center.
Dr. Toto Llabres discuss their response to the MOA:
The city government and the Marikina Sports Center finds the MOA disadvantageous on their part and other things not applicable i.e.:
- All production/ presentation and meeting expenses can be shoulder by the MSC but request for a space provided for the chapter is not yet definite. (open for negotiation)
- They need only schematics presentation or design for the project. Therefor after schematics, they will hire the service of the design professional to do all the contract document phase. Including structural and other engineering works.
- They would priorities hiring an Architect or a technical group coming from our chapter’s organization. But on per diem basis during construction as consultant is not required.
- The chapter can be a guests or an observer during the awarding and bidding presentation but cannot be a part of the awarding committee.
- Office space for production of drawings and coordination meetings can be provided within Sports Center.
Design consideration and requirement for the project;
- Modern and futuristic design of façade
- Reorientation of Gym to east west
- Bleachers to accommodate 22,000 seating capacity.
- Olympic size swimming pools and open oval field.
- Consider a retractable roof for Stadium.
- Tennis and outdoor sports
- Other stalls and offices relocation
Open Discussion:
Arch. Allan clarifies that the Marikina Sports Center only requires us to have a facelift of the MSC project and MOA can be simplified or not necessary.
Arch. Armin Pamintuan says he gave the initial plans and other reference to Arch. Allan.
No design competition activity required. We can submit 3 schematic designs and can be discussed to Mayor Del during our courtesy call this coming 3rd week of August.
Arch. Amy Dela Paz request to be relieved as committee chairman for the MSC project. Arch. Joel as new chairman with Arch. Barry as co-chairman.
Meeting expenses shouldered by the chapter amounting to 2,800.00 and adjourned @ 2:10 pm.
